Trolls and Cyber Bullying

In Philips “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things”, she explains the connection between online trolling and mainstream culture. Trolls are ruthless in their attempts to piss people off, using everything and anything at their disposal to make it happen. Trolls feed on peoples anger, seeking the angry response or wanting to hurt someone’s feelings. The internet has become a platform for people to voice their opinions, however, trolls do so anonymously. At the end of the day, there is not a lot that can be done about trolling. It rarely involves legal implications and the anonymity part of it makes it easy to troll. The only thing to do when it comes to a troll is to ignore them. This denies them the satisfactory attention they seek and this will hopefully shut them down.
