Profanity and Humor

The subject of using profanity as it relates to humor often comes up in class. Should I use it? Should I avoid it? Fuck if I know! In my opinion, if a comedic joke is funny enough, it can be told without the use of profanity. If a joke or story has a good outline,  you can go without using swear words. However, the use of vulgar words in any context can be used to prove a point. In conclusion, the use of swear words in comedy has to come in the right context. If it does not come in the right context, you can make people feel uncomfortable and turn people off of what you were saying. On the other hand, if your use of vulgarity comes at the right time, it can make you a hero with a good joke or story. All about context.
