Bergson: Laughter

Bergson says that laughters function is to, “intimidate by humiliating.”  Laughter, something we often use for relief and fun, is not an innocent act and can blow painful hits.  Laughter is often a way of calling someone out and serves as a corrective.  Do you agree with Bergson’s statement that its function is to intimidate by humiliating? What does that say about our society today?
